Moves like Tata: Julius Malema trolled as dance moves go viral [video]

Footage of Julius Malema fusing his “Mandela dance” with a bit of Vosho has get tongues wagging on social media. The jury is out on this one.

Worthy of Madiba, or just one big struggle? Julius Malema has had to laugh it all off after a video of him dancing in his tuxedo – uploaded by Nelson Mandela’s daughter Zindzi – blew-up on social media over the last 24 hours.

We’re no Strictly Come Dancing judges – and you’re more likely to find us at the buffet table than the dancefloor – but it looks as if we’ve got the iconic “Madiba Shuffle” mixed with a bit of Vosho. They are two dances that you wouldn’t usually dream of doing together, but that’s Juju for you; he’s always producing the unexpected.

It’s not like the competition is much to write home about, though.

He did receive some praise for showing a lighter side to his personal life, but that didn’t stop him getting a gentle trolling from the Twitter crowd. Others, however, thought Malema had taken things up a notch when DJ Sumbody’s track Monate Mpolaye dropped.

Speaking of things that “dropped”, we’ve haven’t seen a political figurehead hit the ground so fast since Nhlanhla Nene’s chair broke on SABC. He effortlessly pivots out of the shuffle and into the Vosho. It got a great reception from the onlookers and at least deserves a Len Goodman “SEVEN!” out of ten.

Zindzi Mandela leaves Juju red-faced

The video was taken during a recent function, and we’re all extremely happy that Zindzi Mandela was invited along too. Without her guerilla camera skills, we’d have been deprived of this brilliant bit of dad-dancing. She even stitched him up in her Twitter post, saying: “It is alleged that you have Tata’s dance moves. LOL“.

And, for once, Juju was left lost for words…
