What does Inacio Miguel bring to the party for Kaizer Chiefs?
All you need to know about Chiefs’ new number 83.
The much-anticipated arrival of Inacio Miguel has Kaizer Chiefs fans excited about his abilities. What does he do well and where will he fit into the system?
Inacio Miguel is well-travelled
28-year-old Inacio Miguel was born equidistant between Portugal’s capital Lisbon and the legendary surf spot Peniche in a municipality named Torres Vedras. He is now a naturalized Angolan with five caps for the Angola national team. Miguel joins on a three-year deal for a fee of R4.5 million. He’s played his club football all over the show including in Portugal, Romania, Latvia and most recently Angola. Obviously, this is an attractive trait.
Tactical versatility
In addition to experience in several leagues, Miguel also brings versatility; a central defender by trade but is comfortable at the base of midfield. Since Chiefs are stacked in central defence with Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and new boy Rushwin Dortley, Miguel could get some game time in the engine room. A lot of this might also depend on how Sibongiseni Mthethwa is deployed. The former Stellies man was the most efficient tackler in the PSL last season completing 55 in 18 matches at an average of 3.05 per game. Mthethwa and Miguel could form a solid partnership in tight games away from home. Time will tell.
What does Kaizer Motaung Jr think?
The Sporting Director sounds delighted with Chiefs’ newest acquisition:
“We’ve watched him and believe his experience, skill and passion for the game embody the spirit of Kaizer Chiefs and will add a lot of positives to the team.”
