‘This is his last season at Orlando Pirates’
A key Orlando Pirates player has been tipped to leave the Soweto giants at the end of the season, in a move that could spell heartache for the fans!
Orlando Pirates have been having a good season so far, with the club gathering rapid momentum in all competitions.
Pirates are second on the Betway Premiership, finished top of their CAF Champions League group and already have silverware.
That is thanks to a core group of players that have constantly put their hands up for the club. Pirates have also then seen a growing list of their players catch the eye of teams abroad of late. Some of those players included Relebohile Mofokeng, Tshegofatso Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa and Patrick Maswanganyi. In the end, the quartet all remained put at Pirates continuing their moment.
Mofokeng has been linked with a few clubs abroad
But in the case of Mofokeng, the talks of a move abroad do not seem to have died down at all. There were recent reports linking the 20-year-old to Barcelona B, but those seemed far fetched and a bit exaggerated. It was thought that a Barcelona B coach asked former AmaZulu coach Pablo Martin about the Pirates man. This as they had seen him briefly during the Buccaneers’ pre-season in Spain.
Either way, according to Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos, this will be Mofokeng’s last season at Pirates.
Broos believes this is his last season at Pirates
“Talking about Mofokeng, I just hope that he makes the right decisions. And that he is not going to a team where he won’t play. I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… (sighs) I’m a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution. Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that’s for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that’s the problem. But ok, let’s hope, maybe I talked too soon about that. We’ll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.” Said Broos to the media as per iDiski Times.
Pirates fans, do you agree with Broos? And do you think it will finally be time to let Mofokeng go for greener pastures? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
