Is this striker set to surprisingly report for Chiefs’ pre-season?
Kaizer Chiefs are considerably reconsidering their attacking options for next season, with one striker perhaps set to stay.
According to widespread talk that has done the rounds for weeks, time appears to have run out on Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana’s stay at Kaizer Chiefs, which has been cut short after just one season.

Bimenyimana arrived at Chiefs with great expectations prior to the start of this season, and after a bright start, it was felt that he could go on to reach great heights.
However, after battling with some injury troubles, the towering forward failed to get back to his best, and ultimately it’s appeared that the club were keen to offload the towering forward with a year still left on his contract.

Yet it’s now reported that the Burundian striker – who has actually just impressed while on international duty – could be set to head back to Chiefs for pre-season training as they have yet to find a club willing to take him on board.
“Caleb is returning to the club after playing well for Burundi in the AFCON qualifier. He’s not taking the overseas offer, so he’s returning to Chiefs for pre-season. It looks like it’ll be tricky to move him this transfer window,” a source told FARPost.

The 25-year-old mainly played off the bench during the latter parts of the season as he fell out of favour, and various reports in recent times have hinted that he could be one of the players facing the exit door.
Bimenyimana obviously offers a foreigner spot in the Chiefs ranks, and so that could have been a factor as the club does look to prematurely offload the 25-year-old.
According to Goal.com, the Burundi international – who initially signed a two-year deal with a further one-year option – was most likely set to have his contract prematurely cut short despite actually finishing the league season as Chiefs’ top scorer.
“Chiefs want to terminate the Bonfils’ contract,” a source told GOAL. “They have approached his representatives and the two parties are now discussing his settlement fee.”
