SIX high-profile players leaving Kaizer Chiefs?

Time to say goodbye?

There could be a minor exodus at Kaizer Chiefs with six players dissatisfied with their current situation within Naturena.

Saile and Du Preez could be high-profile Chiefs departures

Christian Saile, Ashley Du Preez, Edmilson Dove, George Matlou, Edson Castillo and Happy Mashiane all face uncertain futures at Naturena. Congolese attacker Saile has battled to nail down a place in the starting XI. With seven goals and four assists from 54 appearances, it’s not difficult to see why. He’s been at the club since 2023. Meanwhile, Venezuelan star Castillo is sidelined with a knock so the central midfield trio of Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Samkelo Zwane could be difficult to displace when the schemer returns. Mashiane was an unused sub last time out against Royal AM.

On Saile:

“They have tried to give him a chance and be patient with him, but they are not getting the returns they expected from him,” a source told Soccer Laduma.

Ditlhokwe makes history

Botswana secured their second-ever appearance at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025, after holding Egypt to a 1-1 in late November. It breaks a 12-year drought for Ditlhokwe and his nation. It’s good news for the 26-year-old who’s struggled for game time this season at Kaizer Chiefs. New manager Nasreddine Nabi has favoured the new pairing of Inacio Miguel and Rushwin Dortley in the heart of the defence. At the same time, Given Msimango was also called upon while Angolan star Inacio was suspended. Ditlhokwe, Happy Mashiane and Christian Saile were the unused outfield substitutes in Chiefs’ 2-2 draw with Royal AM last time out.

Will Chiefs regret letting go of any of these players?
