PSL rivals approach Mamelodi Sundowns for Bafana Bafana star!

Mamelodi Sundowns are set to begin a new era after the announcement of a new coach earlier this week.

On Tuesday, Sundowns dropped a bombshell by announcing the appointment of new coach Miguel Cardoso.

That spelt the end of Manqoba Mngqithi’s time at the club, and for some Sundowns players maybe a new opportunity. For some they have not been getting a look in since the previous regime of Rulani Mokwena. That alone may have made them think moving from the club was the more viable option for their careers. One of those players being centre back Rushine De Reuck. 

De Reuck joined Sundowns under Pitso Mosimane from Maritzburg United and immediately won the league. He would go on to be a prominent figure in the team as well as an integral part of the Bafana Bafana set up under coach Hugo Broos. He formed part of the defence that didn’t concede a goal in open play during the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. 

A string of injuries have since seen him fall down the pecking order at Sundowns. Now with his contract up at the end of the season, an exited was mooted. According to iDiski Times, Sekhukhune United inquired about De Reuck’s services ahead of the January transfer window. 

Reject Sekhukhune De Reuck offer

“Mamelodi Sundowns have rejected an approach from Sekhukhune United for defender Rushine De Reuck. Sekhukhune approached Sundowns for a six-month loan deal ahead of the January window, but it’s been turned down, presumably due to the arrival of new head coach Miguel Cardoso. It remains to be seen if the technical restructure will now turn around the fortunes of De Reuck at Masandawana.” Wrote the publication. 

De Reuck will be hoping that Cardoso can give him a new lease on life at Sundowns. Masandawana, should the club have let him go. Play regular football for 6 months at Sekhukhune?
