Orlando Pirates to beat Kaizer Chiefs to these FOUR signings?
Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are set to go head to head in the January transfer window but are the Buccaneers on top?
Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will both be dipping in the January transfer window to improve their squads.
Like in previous transfer windows, Pirates and Chiefs are believed to be fighting for similar targets to boost their squads.
So far, Pirates have had a good start to the season, winning seven out of eight matches in the Betway Premiership. Their loss against Stellenbosch FC was just the second they have experienced in all competitions so far this campaign. They previously lost to Magesi FC who knocked them out of the Carling Knockout Cup en-route to winning it.

Pirates and Chiefs competing for signings
Now with that transfer window fast approaching, Chiefs and Pirates have been linked to the same five players. Oswin Appollis, Thabang Matuludi, Asanele Velebayi, and Lungelo Nguse. In the previous window, it was Amakhosi who were touted as favourites to sign these players over the Buccaneers. But the latest reports in recent weeks seem to point at a potential twist.
Buccaneers to go four out of four?
In the case of Appollis, it is now being said that Pirates establishing good relations with Polokwane City could help. Staying with ‘Rise and Shine’ it is believed the Sea Robbers have stolen a march on Chiefs for Matuludi by opening formal talks ahead of the January transfer window. In the case of Velebayi, it is believed that Irvin Khoza is looking to tempt Cape Town Spurs with a players plus cash offer.
Then lastly with striker Nguse, it is well known that Pirates have a great relationship with Golden Arrows. Very seldom has a player moved from Arrows to Chiefs if the Ghost register their interest.
