Orlando Pirates rumours: Saleng, Sibisi, Basadien, Maswanganyi
Today’s rumours.

Today’s Orlando Pirates rumours involve the futures of Monnapule Saleng, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Fawaaz Basadien and Patrick Maswanganyi.
Orlando Pirates take the lead for Basadien
According to SNL, Pirates are in pole position to sign in-demand left-back Fawaaz Basadien. The 28-year-old Stellies man has been a mainstay down that flank for the Winelands club, and his form has seen him earn national team recognition. He has two goals and two assists from 10 Betway Prem appearances this term, a stellar output for a full-back. He’s also got four goal involvements in seven CAF Confederation Cup outings. Meanwhile, in MTN8 action, Basadien has two goals and an assist this term.
Maswanganyi to bet R40 million for Orlando Pirates?
According to Soccer Laduma, Portuguese second-tier side UD Oliveirense are interested in bringing Patrick Maswanganyi back to the club. Negotiations have commenced over a massive R40 million deal.
“It’s no longer just about an inquiry. It’s about negotiations now,” a source told the outlet. “They really want him back in Portugal. They are looking at the progress he has made and they are happy to bring him back to Portugal. It will all depend on what Pirates are looking at or if UD Oliveirense can afford what Pirates will be asking for Maswanganyi.

Is Saleng replaceable?
One Chiefs fan on The South African has called for his club to sign unsettled Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng. His proposal includes cash plus young midfielder Samkelo Zwane.
Saleng has been mysteriously absent from training and matchday squads in recent weeks. This has fuelled a media frenzy around what’s happening with the 26-year-old winger. ‘Private’ reasons have been cited by the club. Saleng has only appeared three times in the Betway Premiership this term, with a return of two goals. However, if Patrick Maswanganyi makes a R40 million move to Portugal, it’s difficult to see Pirates sanctioning Saleng’s sale.
Saleng produced a dazzling output of 15 goals and 11 assists from 30 appearances across all competitions in 2022-2023 to be crowned PSL Player of the Year. 2023-2024 didn’t reach those heights but class, as they say, is permanent.

New deal for Sibisi?
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana central defender Nkosinathi Sibisi is extending terms with the Buccaneers.
“They’ve exercised the option. He is exceptionally happy at the club,” said Sibisi’s agent, Mike Makaab, as quoted by Soccer Laduma.
“He works hard and takes every opportunity with both hands, a hallmark of a professional footballer.”
How do you feel about Maswanganyi’s potential mega-money move?
