Orlando Pirates have reportedly signed Baroka FC winger Kabelo Kgositsile to a five-year deal. The Bakgakga prospect will remain in Polokwane until the end of this season.

“It’s a done deal,” KickOff confirmed. “Kgositsile will be in the books of Orlando Pirates next season. There were no issues regarding the movement of the player as both clubs enjoy a good relationship, and it was easy to finalise the deal.”

Once the move is made permanent, it will be the Buccaneer’s first arrival of the year following a dreadful January transfer market that resulted in zero signings, albeit linked with several stars, including Oswin Appollis and Jaedin Rhodes.

Kgositsile’s game, equipped with speed and skill, is likened to Monnapule Saleng, sparking speculation of an offseason exit for the 27-year-old. However, a source close to the club denies this claim and analyses it as Orlando Pirates attempt to improve squad depth.

“Pirates are a club that likes to beef up with quality players in every position, and therefore that [Kabelo Kgositsile signing] cannot be seen as affecting him [Saleng],” a SoccerLaduma source confirmed.

“It’s the matter that is for the club and his handlers and it has nothing to do with his performances on the field. If it gets sorted in the office before the end of the season, there is a chance that he can return to the field, as far as I understand.”

Gilberto out?

It’s been a season to forget for Orlando Pirates newcomer Gilberto, who re-joined former club Petro de Lunda five months after arriving in Soweto, a move both parties are trying to make permanent.

“Word reaching Phakaaathi is that the powers that be at Orlando Pirates are open to selling Gilberto,” the Citizen reported.

“The attacker still has two years left on his current contract, and Petro is reportedly interested in making the deal to bring him back to the Girabola league a permanent one.”

Is this a good signing for Orlando Pirates?
