Pirates news: R22 million bounty; offseason transfer targets
Orlando Pirates have an exciting few months on the horizon. Jose Riveiro is on the brink of making history.

Orlando Pirates face MC Alger in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals on April 1 and April 8.
The Buccaneers cruised through to the knockout stages, finishing on top of Group C with fourteen points out of a possible eighteen – Jose Riveiro’s side are yet to record a defeat in the competition.
Prevailing past the Algerian giants will equate to an R22 million reward, which will substantially rise in the semi-finals and final.
Offseason targets
The Sea Robbers failed to land any players in the January transfer window amid several high-profile links; Orlando Pirates are adamant not to repeat that feat in the winter window.
Below are a few players the Soweto side are monitoring for the offseason:
- Jaedin Rhodes (Cape Town City)
- Oswin Appollis (Polokwane City)
- Muzomuhle Khanyi (Hungry Lions)
- Fawaaz Basadien (Stellenbosch FC)
Rhodes to Soweto?
According to reports, Orlando Pirates tried to land Rhodes in January and will try again when the next window opens.
“He [Rhodes] has been one of their [Pirates] targets for some time now,” a source confirmed.
“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period.
“Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”
A second source said, “obviously, they (Pirates) will either loan some out or release some as well. But that’s the time they need to work on their squad and since it didn’t happen in January then they will work on it in the off season. Rhodes is one player on that list already.“
Who else should Orlando Pirates be monitoring?
