Orlando Pirates news: Out-of-favour striker linked with Qatari move

An out-of-favour Orlando Pirates striker is set to move on ahead of the upcoming season with Qatar likely to be his next destination.

An out-of-favour Orlando Pirates striker is set to move on ahead of the upcoming season with Qatar likely to be his next destination.

According t iDiski Times, Kwame Peprah has attracted interest from an unnamed second tier club in Qatar.

Peprah is currently on loan at Maritzburg United from Pirates, having joined them during the January transfer window.

This was after he was deemed surplus to requirements by the new Pirates technical team led by Jose Riveiro, and he has had a disappointing stint with the Team of Choice.

Peprah joined Pirates on a three-year deal in 2021, and while he hit the ground running in his first season, a change of coaches saw him fall the down the pecking order.

“Orlando Pirates striker Kwame Peprah, who looks set to leave the club in the off-season, has attracted interest from the Qatari second-tier.

“iDiski Times have been informed the player, who has struggled to make an impact during his six-month loan at Maritzburg United is being courted in the Gulf.”

WILL ORLANDO PIRATES EASILY ALLOW PEPRAH TO LEAVE?

As reported on The South African website, Peprah is among the four players set to part ways with Pirates in the off-season.

However, the new developments may simply see Pirates change their minds as they could look to cash in on him instead of releasing him.

This season only, Peprah made a combined 14 appearances for both Pirates and Maritzburg United and scored just once.

Since arriving in South Africa, the 22-year-old has made an overall of 54 appearances across all competitions and found the back of the net 10 times.
