Pirates’ new signing: I didn’t think this would happen!

Orlando Pirates’ deadline day signing Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo says it is a dream come true to be making the move to the Buccaneers.

As the transfer deadline draws towards a close at midnight on Thursday, Orlando Pirates announced the signing of Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo

The 27-year-old joins the Buccaneers on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Marumo Gallants.

A statement described him as a player “blessed with superb technical ability, creativity, an incisive range of passing and a willingness to work hard for his team, Ndlondo has shown to be adept in both in attack and defensive situations”.

Moments after putting pen to paper, Ndlondlo told Orlandopiratesfc.com: “I am happy to be here. This is a dream come true for me.

“With the window closing today, I didn’t think a move would happen, but football is an unpredictable game anything is possible. Here I am today speaking to you as an Orlando Pirates player.

“I would like to express my gratitude to everybody at Marumo Gallants. To the players, coaches, and management, thank you for a wonderful couple of years…and to the fans, you will always have a place in my heart.

“As I said before, it’s a dream to be here and I look forward to joining up with my new teammates. I come here looking to make a meaningful contribution to this great institution,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are reportedly in talks to possibly secure an incoming transfer for Chippa United goalkeeper Sipho Chaine.

It’s been reported for quite some time that Pirates have been on the lookout for a goalkeeper to bolster their ranks, with links to Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy ultimately amounting to little.

There has also been some talk that Pirates could be closing in on Lloyd Kazapua, and some rumours suggested he even left for Gauteng on Wednesday ahead of a possible move to the Buccaneers.

However, SABC Sport now reports the Buccaneers are in negotiations with Chippa United, and could secure a cash transfer for Chaine as they look to add some more experienced back-up to their goalkeeping stocks.

Chaine joined Chippa from Royal AM in July, and it will be not be very interesting to see whether he switches across to Pirates.

With the local football season already well underway, it remains to be seen what big moves could be made as the extended transfer window gets set to slam shut on Thursday.
