The wait is nearly over. Orlando Pirates faces Kaizer Chiefs but Evidence Makgopa might be unavailable.

Soweto Derby Day is here. The Sea Robbers and Amakhosi are dreaming of CAF Champions League next season. For now, it’s one game at a time. The latest game is rather special.

Pirates will be home for the derby against Chiefs. As far as team selection, Makgopa is facing a late fitness test.

Makgopa missed Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Cape Town Spurs. According to coach Jose Riveiro, the Limpopo-born star suffered a knock against Polokwane City last weekend.

“He [Makgopa] got a knock against Polokwane City; in the beginning, we thought it wasn’t going to be relevant, but he couldn’t make it to be in this game,” the Pirates coach said, as quoted by FARPost.

“It’s also a question mark for Saturday [against Kaizer Chiefs], so nobody was resting. The substitutions we made today were forced. Olisa Ndah was suspended, and Evidence [Makgopa] was not able to be in this game,” the Pirates tactician concluded.
