Jose Riveiro nears Orlando Pirates contract decision – Latest!
Orlando Pirates remain in the dark regarding Jose Riveiro’s future at the club. His assistant has provided some insight.

Orlando Pirates boss Jose Riveiro remains vague about his future in Soweto.
Although the league title has alluded the Spanish manager, he has enjoyed three illustrious years with the Buccaneers, winning as many MTN8 Cups and two Nedbank Cups. In the coming months, he has the opportunity to make it three from three and six from six.
Five trophies in just three years have already made him a Pirates legend. But if he walks away this June, there will forever be a ‘what could have been?’ debate as the club edges ever-closer to PSL and Champions League glory.
The Orlando Pirates manager has remained coy on the subject of leaving, so much so that not even assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has any idea what Riveiro will do.
“Whether the coach leaves or stays at the end of the current season is anybody’s guess at the moment. Working in football is like checking in at a hotel. Others stay for one day, others stay for two days, others stay for a month – but at the end, we all check out!” said Ncikazi.
“I do have my personal wishes; if the project works so well, why should it be spoiled? But let’s keep the hopes high and also trust the vision of our management that they will always take the right decision.”
