Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro may be forced to find a permanent solution to their defence for the remainder of the season.
And that is because central defender Thabiso Sesane may only return to action ahead of next season due to injury.
Sesane ruptured tendon in Pirates’ 2-1 win over Sekhukhune United last week, and that injury forced his substitution 18 minutes into the encounter.
On that night, Thapelo Xoki took Sesane’s place in the Pirates team, and again against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The injury made it impossible for Sesane to feature as Pirates were humiliated 4-1 by Sundowns this past weekend.
Now, Pirates have since confirmed that Sesane will undergo surgery on his raptured tendon this week.
And according to a research made by FARPost, a player with a raptured tendon can only return to action after four to six months.
What this means is that Sesane can only be expected back in May or the latest in July depending on his recovery.
In the meantime, Pirates fans will have to contend with the partnership of either Nkosinathi Sibisi and/or Xoki and Olisa Ndah.
Captain Innocent Maela was occasionally played at centre-back but he does not really appear to be Riveiro’s favourite.

ORLANDO PIRATES STAR SESANE TO MISS THE REST OF THE SEASON?
“According to MyHealthy.Alberta.ca, a ruptured tendon injury after surgery takes up to four to six months to heal,” reports the publication.
“However, the recovery progress can take longer, depending on the severity of the injury.
“After surgery, the ankle will be swollen, and ice can be used to reduce it. But it will get better after a few days and slowly recover during the process.”
