Despite the club’s woes with Monnapule Saleng, Orlando Pirates took to social media to celebrate the star’s birthday.

Monnapule Saleng has been absent since December 2024, and he last played for the club against Al Ahly in a CAF Champions League group fixture.

ORLANDO PIRATES CELEBRATES SALENG’S BIRTHDAY

The club has since revealed ‘personal issues’ behind his absence. However, his parents and close friends revealed that his ‘contract’ was the problem.

The publication also noted that Saleng had a fallout with the club after his camp requested a better contract.

According to reports, the star is pocketing R70 000, which is R80 000 less than he earned during his loan spell with Moroka Swallows.

According to reports, Saleng earned around R150 000 at the Dube Birds. However, despite ignoring the noise for weeks, the club took to social media to celebrate the star’s birthday.

On Instagram, the club posted, “Wishing our #25 @karim_kimvuidi and #14 @saleng_monnapule_10 a very Happy Birthday!

Against the post, the publication quickly connected the dots about his age. The 27-year-old star was born on 13 March 1998 in Bloemhof, North West. However, little is known about his childhood.

Surprisingly, Saleng shares a birthday with fellow Orlando Pirates star Karim Kimvuidi.

The attacking midfielder is also celebrating his birthday today. The Congolese attacking midfielder was born on 13 March 2002.

CAREER

He undoubtedly had his shot at fame as a teen and has remained consistent for years. Saleng started his career with Orbit College in the SAFA Second Division before switching the floor to Free State Stars in 2019.

However, his unmatched flair led him to win the Golden Boot Award in the 2021 National First Division season. He netted 13 goals from 29 appearances.

In July 2021, he joined Orlando Pirates, the Soweto giants. However, despite his signing, he was loaned out to Moroka Swallows during the 2021-2022 season.

He made over 20 club appearances for the Dube Birds before returning to the Orlando Pirates. Since then, he has become a regular, up until his woes.

MAKING HEADLINES

Confirmed reports have it that the star is no longer happy at Orlando Pirates and wants to leave the Soweto giants.

A few weeks ago, it was reported that Saleng is set to hand in his transfer request at the end of the season.

On the other hand, the publication reported that Saleng’s stay was extended for two years after the club exercised the two-year extension clause in his contract.

However, this twist has left many trying to connect the dots about his future.

WILL ORLANDO PIRATES KEEP SALENG?
