Pirates: Bafana defender SECURED; Appollis talks dealt BLOW
Orlando Pirates take on the dilapidated Royal AM tomorrow as they continue to keep up with Mamelodi Sundowns.
Orlando Pirates lie second on the log, three points behind reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
It’s been a quiet January transfer window for the Buccaneers, who seem set to lose more star power than gain.
Monnapule Saleng, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Karim Kimvuidi are each linked with moves away.
Sibisi to stay
The Buccaneers have exercised their right to extend Nkosinathi Sibisi’s contract, ensuring the 29-year-old Durban-born defender stays for another year.
The experienced Sibisi has 4 caps for Bafana Bafana, along with 192 PSL games under his belt—112 for Golden Arrows and 80 for Orlando Pirates.
Appollis deal gone stagnant
Polokwane City seems set to keep hold of their star man, Oswin Appollis, until the end of the season, amid interest from Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
According to reports, the Limpopo outfit requires they find a suitable replacement before letting their Bafana gem go, and with the January transfer window only being a month, time is not on their side—or maybe it is.
Another factor preventing the Chiefs or Pirates from signing the 23-year-old is the elevated price tag, especially at the heart of the season, and Polokwane knows how desperately both sides want Appollis.
“It won’t be easy for them [Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates] in January,” KickOff confirmed.
“A deal in January leaves the club little chance to find a replacement. So, there is already that. Then if it’s a local team, then that’s another problem, you see. But it’s football, anything happens, but it would be crazy money for him now.”
Who else should Orlando Pirates target?
