New young talent spotted at Kaizer Chiefs, compared to club legend
Promotion soon?
Kaizer Chiefs have a young defender in the ranks who’s already earning rave reviews and foreign admirers. Do you know him?
Cossa on the brink of a Kaizer Chiefs breakthrough
20-year-old Xolani Cossa is a stylish, left-footed central defender who’s impressed in the Amakhosi DDC setup. Botswanan side Jwaneng Galaxy, who lost to Orlando Pirates in this season’s Caf Champions League preliminary stages, are eager to snap him up on loan. A SL source confirmed that Jwaneng are huge fans.
“The Jwaneng Galaxy technical team knows the player. I think they know him from the Chiefs DDC side and they have inquired about him.”
“He is left-footed but a central defender. You remember Tefu Mashamaite? That kind of defender. Very rare. That’s why the technical team has agreed with the DDC coaches that he should be promoted to the first team.”
“He is like Rushwin Dortley. Very skilled and good both in the air and on the ground. They want him to be an understudy to Dortley and he will be playing in most of the friendly games so that he can acclimatize with playing for the first team.”
Pro terms for Cossa; facilitating a move away on loan?
Cossa can’t be loaned out as an amateur to a foreign country. As a result, Chiefs are scurrying behind the scenes to offer him professional terms.
The insider explained, “I think and believe the interest from Jwaneng Galaxy will speed up the process of him signing a first-team contract… Chiefs would like him to gain that experience as well. So, it works for both teams at this stage.”
Fresh blow for Mshini
According to SoccerLaduma, attacking midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo faces an anxious wait to confirm the severity of his latest injury setback. Nasreddine Nabi will be holding thumbs that the issue isn’t a serious one.
“The only injury concern we have right now is ‘Mshini’ (Ngcobo), who was coming back very well”, manager Nabi told journalists via assistant coach and translator Cedric Kaze.
“He got injured yesterday at training and we might do a test today, but it is very uncertain that Ngcobo will play on Wednesday.”
Will Cossa make a name for himself at Jwaneng, should he move there?
