Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly actively placing one of their key players on the transfer list this January window.

Sundowns are known to have a huge squad with quality players in all departments fighting to be in the matchday squad.

Sundowns looking to sell Shalulile

This season, one player that has found himself on the peripheries is star striker Peter Shalulile. The Namibian international joined Sundowns at the start of the 2020/21 season, after being prolific for Highlands Park. The step up was not daunting for him at all, and in fact, saw him go up to another level. Since joining Masandawana, he has been one of the most deadly strikers in South African football netting 95 goals in 180 starts and providing 25 assists..

But in the last two seasons his influence has become less and less. This season, Shalulile has found himself playing second fiddle to new signing Iqraam Rayners. With the Bafana Bafana international scoring an impressive 13 goals in 17 matches, it has been hard to displace him as the main man upfront at Sundowns.

This publication reported earlier in the week that Sundowns were ready to sell Shalulile for that reason. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, they have named their price.

Price tag a whooping R75 million!

“This amount was reached on after looking at what they paid to Highlands Park when they (Sundowns) bought him in 2020. That time it was believed to be around R30 million and his value has been going up since that time and that’s why they were valuing him at R75 million now. He is a top striker who gives you at least ten goals every season. What else would you ask for from such a striker? Yes, so it’s R75 million for a team interested in Shalulile,” said the source.

That means Sundowns are not looking to sell Shalulile in the local market. It remains to be seen if he leaves during this transfer window. Is that a fair price for the lethal Namibian international? Feel free to leave your thoughts and feelings in the comments below.
