Defender Divine Lunga’s agent, Mike Makaab, explains that his client is not going on loan but will stay at Mamelodi Sundowns and be registered as a local.
Lunga’s future has been a subject of speculation at Sundowns and local media reports suggested that he could be going out on loan.

However, Makaab explains the former Golden Arrows left-back will be registered as a local by Sundowns, and that could benefit the talented player.
This comes as PSL rules allow clubs to have a maximum number of five foreign players on their books at any point in time, and Sundowns have already exceeded their quota this season.

This means the reigning DStv Premiership champions, Sundowns, cannot add more – thus giving defender Lunga an opportunity after he was out in the cold when the 2023/24 season got under way.
Speaking to SABC Sport, the 28-year-old Zimbabwean defender’s agent, Makaab, explains that his client is not going anywhere.
“He will now be eligible to play as a South African and that will be very interesting because I believe Divine is incredibly talented and offers the club options as a left-sided player,” explains Makaab.

Furthermore, Makaab says it will be interesting to see how Sundowns will use the gifted defender going forward.
Having spent five seasons in the Mzansi top-flight, the Sundowns defender is now eligible to apply for permanent residency, which allows the club to put him on their books as a local.

“It will be interesting to see how he is used – I do think he is going to do well there,” adds Makaab.

“A lot of people look at him as a defensive player, but he has got incredible ability going forward.”
