Kaizer Chiefs transfer list revealed: Nine world-class stars wanted
Kaizer Chiefs are expected to sign several more players during the January transfer window. They play Richards Bay next.
Kaizer Chiefs are linked with an array of talent.
Some play overseas; others, like Oswin Appollis, are making their mark in the PSL, turning heads at AmaKhosi headquarters.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, clubs begin their quest for new players, and Kaizer Chiefs have wasted no time, even after seven signings in the offseason.
Who do they want?
It’s no secret that Nasreddine Nabi wants more Kaizer Chiefs players as he tries to transform the Soweto Giants after their tenth-placed finish last season.
But, even after luring a wave of new talent the Glamour Boys seem fragmented, unable to take control of games and capitalize on momentum – however, to reach the levels of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, Nabi needs time to coerce his group, to allow them to understand one another and bond on the pitch; only then will he begin to see profound results.
So, who will Kaizer Chiefs be targeting during the January transfer window?
- Fiston Mayele
- Asanele Velebayi
- Percy Tau
- Puso Dithejane
- Oswin Appollis
- Sihle Nduli
- Bongani Zungu
- Sphelele Mkhulise
- Zakhele Lepasa
The Velebayi situation
The Soweto Giants were eager to sign Cape Town’s Velebayi over the winter but had several offers rejected by the club, who deemed their bid to low.
Sports agent Lance Davids clarified the events, saying, “Chiefs came back with a second offer and gave, in my opinion, a valuation that was very fair with add-ons, and they also didn’t accept that. They thought the valuation was low, and then they stopped just there.
“In my opinion, I thought the valuation that Cape Town Spurs was looking at for Velebayi, compared to Oswin Appollis, it’s a no-brainer – you can’t compare [the two players’ value]. At this point, what did Oswin achieved in the last year?
“So I think the valuation of Velebayi was crazy; I think Chiefs, to be honest, was very fair on their proposal and, in my opinion, they could have still add some more add-ons.
“Of course, they did not because they thought they were also fair on their proposal, and the deal fell through… I’ll be honest, at first Cape Town Spurs wanted R12 million, they came down to R10 million, and Chiefs’ offer was R5 million plus players.”
