Kaizer Chiefs set to loan Nkosingiphile Ngcobo due to lack of physicality? Nasreddine Nabi clears the air.

Chiefs are reportedly considering loaning out midfielder Ngcobo next season to ensure he secures valuable game time. According to a source, the club’s technical team has already recommended the move, believing that Ngcobo does not fit the profile of the player head coach Nabi wants in his squad.

As previously reported, Ngcobo has struggled to cement his place in the starting XI under Nabi. Despite being a highly skilled midfielder, his playing style does not align with the coach’s tactical approach.

“You remember, they were supposed to loan him out at the start of the season, but with injuries and a lack of signings in that position, they kept him. Still, he hasn’t played that much compared to other midfielders because he is not in the coach’s plans. So the technical team and management have agreed that the best solution is to loan him out next season,” a source revealed.

Ngcobo’s playing style vs. Nabi’s tactical approach

One of the biggest reasons behind this decision is Ngcobo’s playing speed. While he is a technical and intelligent midfielder, his lack of pace in the team’s attacking transitions has hindered his chances of becoming a key player under Nabi.

“There is no doubt he is a talented midfielder, but he is not what the coach is looking for. He is believed to be a bit slow from what the coach prefers. So they want to give him a chance to play at a team where his talent and way of playing will be appreciated. That’s why they are looking to loan him,” the source added.

Chiefs experiment against Magesi

In a recent league match against Magesi FC, Nabi deployed Ngcobo in a deeper midfield role instead of his usual attacking position. The decision was part of an attempt to adapt the team’s tactical setup.

“It’s true that Ngcobo played a different role than usual. We felt that in other moments, Magesi were defending too deep, and we needed more technical quality to link up midfield and attack,” said Nabi as quoted by FARPost.

“At some point, you need to take a risk to get the results you want, and that’s the risk we took. But we felt that we were a bit unbalanced. We were a little bit too offensive, but we wanted to take the risk to get the results.”

Nabi want Ngcobo to add more physicality

Nabi also emphasized that while Ngcobo possesses technical brilliance, he needs to develop a more physical presence to thrive in the midfield.

“We believe that Ngcobo is a very technical player and very smart, but we want him to be a bit more physical in his game because when you play in the middle of the park, there’s not enough space, people get to you very quickly. We need him to get that quality in his game.”

With the technical team and management leaning toward a loan move. Ngcobo may soon find himself playing elsewhere to refine his skills and get consistent game time. While his talent is undeniable, he needs to find a team that can better utilize his abilities. A loan stint could be the key to unlocking his full potential.
