Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will once again go head to head in the transfer window come season end.

Chiefs and Pirates were already competing for certain targets in the January window, with those battles set to continue.

Chiefs and Pirates to compete for top stars

It was believed that Pirates would announce deals for Polokwane City duo Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi in January. In the end, the deal did not happen. Those were also players that were of interest to Chiefs. It was believed that Amakhosi made a bid for Appollis but it was subsequently turned down. The two clubs are also believed to be eyeing Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien. The Bafana Bafana international is expected to move in the close season.

Now the latest target both Pirates and Chiefs are believed to be eyeing is striker Muzomuhle Khanyi. The Hungry Lions star has got 14 goals in 17 appearances in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. He has been linked to the Buccaneers for two windows now and according Soccer-Laduma, Amakhosi will challenge them!

Khanyi the latest in the mix?

“Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have joined Orlando Pirates in showing interest in Hungry Lions striker Muzomuhle Khanyi, the leading goalscorer in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. His impressive performances have attracted attention from top Sight clubs, with both Chiefs and Pirates now closely monitoring his situation. Pirates have been keeping tabs on Khanyi since the first half of the season, hoping to secure his signature before other clubs enter the race. However, sources indicate that Chiefs have now made enquiries regarding his availability, potentially setting up a Terce transfer battle between the two Soweto giants.” Wrote the publication.

A source speaking to the same publication confirmed that Chiefs are looking to push Pirates for Khanyi.

Amakhosi enquire about the striker

“Enquiries have been made from Chiefs about Khanyi and it looks like the player will definitely be leaving Hungry Lions at the end of the season. This is the player who has been on the radar of Pirates for some time and Chiefs are now also showing interest,” said the source.
