Kaizer Chiefs to call on McCarthy to be their saviour?
Kaizer Chiefs could be about to boost their set up with added personnel in the coming weeks…
Kaizer Chiefs have been leaking goals since the start of the season, with no clean sheet in the league.
Twice only time Chiefs have not conceded was in a Carling Knockout Cup win over SuperSport United.
They recently saw a two goal collapse against Royal AM, after looking comfortable for a win at 2-0. They eventually lost what looked good to be a clean sheet. In midweek, Chiefs also looked primed to shut out Richards Bay who eventually got a late equaliser on the night. They have largely used the same defence, with Given Msimango often deputising for Inacio Miguel when not available.
Chiefs struggling for cleen sheets
Reeve Frosler, Rushwin Dortley and Bradley Cross have been the ever present stars. But their failure to keep out their opponents has seemings seen Chiefs management looking for solutions. The latest from Soccer-Laduma is that they’re searching internally and could soon recall DDC captain Aden McCarthy into the first team fold.
“They (Chiefs) want to give him a chance. Most youngsters who were first promoted with him have been given the chance and they are doing very well. So, both technical teams, the senior team and the DDC are believed to have agreed that they should recall Aden (McCarthy) from the DDC as part of strengthening the defence. He has been there before and they know he can do it,” said one source.
Another source points out that McCarthy trains with the Chiefs senior team so he would be used to the demands.
McCarthy the answer?
“You remember he was promoted together with Happy Mashiane and others under Stuart Baxter but he didn’t really play for the team. He even went to Europe for trials and when he came back he was sent back to the DDC but now they see they need to have him back with the first team as they have seen there is a gap he can fill in,” said the source.
