Kaizer Chiefs: Three players SUSPENDED! – Confirmed
Kaizer Chiefs have to win to keep their MTN8 hopes alive. Now, they will have to do so without THREE players who have been suspended.
Kaizer Chiefs have to contend with with not one, not two but THREE players picking up suspensions.
Amakhosi have two matches left in this year’s DStv Premiership.
They play hosts to Polokwane City on Saturday, 18 May in what is their final home game of the season. Unfortunately, this trio of stars will play no part, as reported on iDiskiTimes.
CHIEFS TRIO SUSPENDED FOR FINAL HOME GAME OF THE SEASON
Brandon Peterson, Pule Mmodi and Edmilson Dove will all have to sit out of Amakhosi’s crucial last home match of the season. Peterson was shown a red card from the sidelines. Meanwhile, Mmodi picked up a red card and Dove accumulated his fourth yellow of the season.
So, Cavin Johnson will have to find three suitable replacements. Bruce Bvuma could start in goal unless he opts to give Itumeleng Khune a possible farewell match. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, which means this could be Khune’s last home match playing for Amakhosi, having served the club for the last two decades. As things stand, the club does not want to extend his contract. However, they are considering offering him a role in the technical team. Interestingly, Khune has indicated that he still wants to play so he must decide between hanging up his boots – and gloves and staying on as a coach or continuing playing elsewhere.
Furthermore, Johnson has plenty of depth at the back with Given Msimango, Thatoyaone Ditlhokwe, Zitha Kwinika and Njabulo Ngcobo are capable of playing at the heart of defence for Chiefs. Finally, Mfundo Vilakazi, Samkelo Zwane even George Matlou could be given a chance to flourish.
AMAKHOSI HAVE TO WIN
Chiefs are hanging onto eight place by a thread. Meaning, they are only just hanging on to the final MTN8 spot. Currently, just three points separate Amakhosi from 13th-placed Swallows FC in the latest DStv Premiership standings.
Therefore, they cannot afford to drop points in their final two matches, as reported on The South African. Especially, since Polokwane City is tied on 35 points with them. Amakhosi travel to Cape Town to take on Cape Town City in the final game of the season on 25 May.
