Chiefs reignite their pursuit of Sweden-based midfielder, as they strategize a major squad overhaul ahead of the new season.

Kaizer Chiefs rekindle interest in Swedish-based star.
Amakhosi previously showed interest in the IFK Varnamo midfielder but never made formal inquiries. Now, sources confirm that Chiefs are back in the hunt, focusing on signing players who are not already high-priority targets for other clubs.
Chiefs shift transfer strategy to gain an edge
A source close to the club revealed that Chiefs are now prioritizing players who are not in direct competition with their PSL rivals.
“What the club has decided on their recruitment policy is to try and sign as many players as possible who are not in demand from their local rivals,” the source said. “On many occasions, when they compete with other local teams, they end up missing out on key signings. That’s why they have reignited their pursuit of Luke Le Roux. He is South African but currently playing in Europe, and they believe they stand a better chance of signing him.”
Major squad overhaul expected at Chiefs
The source also indicated that Chiefs are preparing for a major squad overhaul at the start of next season, aligning with coach Nasreddine Nabi’s rebuilding strategy.
“For them to bring in most of the players they are targeting, they need to offload some—if not most—of the current squad. A big overhaul is expected, particularly in the attacking areas, although goalkeeping and defense could also be affected. The club is working to balance the squad while also managing wages,” the source added.
Will Le Roux return to the PSL or stay in Europe?
Le Roux has featured in a few matches for IFK Varnamo this season, and his next move remains uncertain. He could choose to stay in Europe to continue adapting to international football, or he might opt for a return to South Africa, where playing in the PSL may provide more visibility for Bafana Bafana selection under coach Hugo Broos.
With Chiefs actively reshaping their squad, all eyes will be on whether they can lure Le Roux back home. Will the midfielder make the move, or will he continue his European journey? Time will tell.
