Kaizer Chiefs told to cough up R40 million for key target
Is he worth the fuss?
Kaizer Chiefs have been quoted a hefty price for one of their rumoured transfer targets in the ongoing transfer window.
Chiefs told to cough up R40 million for Salum
“Chiefs are said to have offered Azam a significant offer for the 26-year-old, but the offer falls short of the R40 million evaluation by the club for the Tanzanian international,” the Citizen reported.
“Unless Chiefs offer what Azam wants, I don’t see the deal happening anytime soon. What’s more, Feisal wants to stay in Tanzania and with Simba also interested, it seems he’s likely to join them,” a source told the same publication.
Salum will command a hefty salary
According to The Citizen, Amakhosi have the funds to out-bid Azam and offer him improved terms. However, Chiefs face a tough stage of negotiations if they want to lure the midfielder away from his homeland. The attacking midfield maestro scored 19 goals last term.
“Feisal is an important player for Azam and they don’t want to lose him. They will offer him a new and improved contract that will make him one of the highest-paid players in the Tanzanian Premier League,”
“It is believed that his new salary will be in the region of $12, 000 (approximately R222,000), but Chiefs can easily match or top this amount so it remains to be seen if Salum will accept this offer or if he will join Amakhosi or Simba in January.”
Dream Kaizer Chiefs XI with Salum and others
This hypothetical XI would see regular midfield hardman Thabo Cele shifted out to right back to accommodate Luke Le Roux and Feisal Salum in a midfield pivot. Wandile Duba, reportedly on the verge of signing a new deal, could form a fruitful creative relationship alongside fellow academy talent and fan favourite Mduduzi Shabalala. Oswin Appollis is the man all Chiefs fans want; the Polokwane and Bafana winger would be their dream signing. Prolific Congolese marksman Fiston Mayele is no stranger to finding the back of the net. Ramiro Vaca is a midfield maestro capable of supplying chances for a number 9.
Would Salum have to displace Mdu in the starting XI?
News of a new contract for Mduduzi Shabalala is a boost for the player and the club and a reward for the hard work he’s put into his craft. Mdu is now the team’s creative heartbeat. After moments of inconsistency in 2023-2024, he’s making this season his own with a string of impressive and authoritative performances as the creative hub and number 10 playmaker. He’s got four goals and an assist from 13 appearances.
