Stellies set to snatch PSL striker from Kaizer Chiefs
MTN8 Cup finalists Stellenbosch FC set their sights on one of Kaizer Chiefs attacking transfer targets. Who do you think will get him?
To the dismay of Kaizer Chiefs fans, Stellenbosch FC has entered the chatroom.
The Cape Winelands outfit will go toe-to-toe with AmaKhosi for the signature of striker Lungelo Nguse.
Kaizer Chiefs see the Golden Arrows star as a cheaper but still effective alternative to their R114 million target, Michael Olunga, but are still weighing up their options with five other attackers, giving Steve Barker’s side a good chance of snatching the 25-year-old.
When business and sport collide, time is not of the essence, meaning the Glamour Boys will have to act quickly if they are serious about landing Nguse.
Stellenbosch, on the other hand, are linked to a fraction of the number of players meaning they are all-in on Nguse and will want to get the deal done early into the January transfer window.
Rumours confirmed
According to SoccerLaduma, “Kaizer Chiefs are finding it difficult to get their priority signing in as far as the strikers are concerned and since they badly need a striker in January, they are back in for Golden Arrows striker Lungelo Nguse. They wanted him in the previous transfer window but they also were looking at Fiston Mayele and they could not get both of them,” said the Siya source.
“Then they looked at Kenyan striker Michael Olunga and it’s difficult to get him as well so now they are back in for Nguse. It’s looking good now as he is locally based and maybe the money wouldn’t be as high as it is for Mayele or Olunga. That’s the situation now,” the source added.
“The latest now is that Stellenbosch is also interested in him. That’s where the money issues would resurface again and the highest bidder could get him. But because Chiefs were the first to have shown interest then maybe they could consider them first. But, you know, in football anything is possible,” the second insider told the Siya crew.
Do you think Kaizer Chiefs will sign Nguse?
