Kaizer Chiefs practically out of the league title race!

Kaizer Chiefs will have to wait for yet another season to try and win the league as they are now practically out of this one.

Kaizer Chiefs are practically out of the Betway Premiership title race following Mamelodi Sundowns‘ win over AmaZulu.

The Brazilians eased to a 2-0 win over Usuthu on Tuesday night, thanks to goals from Peter Shalulile and Arthur Sales.

For Shalulile, the goal was his 100th in the colours of Sundowns since joining them from Highlands Park in September 2020.

Now, the win took Sundowns to 58 points from the 22 league games that they have payed so far.

It also saw them restore an 18-point gap between them and second-placed Orlando Pirates who drew 0-0 with Stellenbosch FC.

KAIZER CHIEFS OUT OF THE TITLE RACE

Now, with Sundowns already on 58 points and Chiefs on 28 points with 10 league games to go, it is clear that Amakhosi can’t catch their Gauteng rivals.

Chiefs will have to win ALL their remaining 10 league games to get to 58 points, and given their current form, that is highly IMPOSSIBLE.

Now, all the Glamour Boys should focus on is finishing as high as possible on the Betway Premiership log.

Nasreddine Nabi has already said their objective as Chiefs is to finish in a CAF spot this season.

And that is finishing either second or third to play in the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup next season.

Nonetheless, should that not happen, Chiefs still have the Nedbank Cup trophy to play for and could achieve that objective.

But that will depend on the results of the Nedbank Cup semi-finals…

Chiefs will have to beat either Sekhukhune United or Sundowns, and hope Pirates beat Marumo Gallants in the other semi-final.

And then from there, Chiefs will have to hope for Pirates to finish second on the log or simply do the job themselves by winning the Nedbank Cup to return to CAF football.

HOW HIGH CAN AMAKHOSI FINISH?
