Kaizer Chiefs outcast no longer leaving in January after impressing Nabi
Kaizer Chiefs defensive midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa has fallen down the pecking order since Nabi arrived but that could change.
Kaizer Chiefs defensive midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa‘s future might just have been saved by his performance during the Home of Legends Cup tournament.
The 30-year-old star was reportedly going to be placed on a transfer list by Chiefs but Nasreddine Nabi has since decided to give the player a chance. Mthethwa has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of the Tunisian coach in July.
The man known as ‘Ox‘ is yet to feature for Kaizer Chiefs this season but that can soon change. The former Stellenbosch defender impressed Amakhosi’s assistant coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef during the Legends Cup.
”You understand with Ox for pre-season he was not plugged in the XI, after that I pushed him, boosted his morale to give a maximum in training and given him a specific profile,” said Nabi as per Sabc Sport.
Mthethwa could feature for Kaizer Chiefs midweek
Amakhosi play Richards Bay at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening in a Betway Premiership clash.
“The game needs specific qualities from some players. We need a profile for Ox, he is quality and can bring balance in the team. But it is a competition for all players,” added Nabi.
”Of course we are aware of the need for positive results this week. We know that we’re going to play some difficult teams, starting with Richards Bay – we know that they have some inconsistent results and would want to come strong, but everyone understands the importance of getting positive results this week, the players and the technical staff. We know our mission, we are fully focused and prepared for the next two games,” said the Kaizer Chiefs coach.
Can Ox finally find his feet at Chiefs?
