Kaizer Chiefs are spirited again after a victory over a feisty Stellenbosch FC last weekend.
KAIZER CHIEFS CONFIDENT AHEAD OF THE NEDBANK CUP
Following the loss to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby and a draw against AmaZulu last Wednesday, Nasreddine Nabi’s Amakhosi reclaimed their confidence last Friday, courtesy of a 1-0 win over Stellenbosch at the Athlone Stadium.
Next is Chippa United’s visit for Nedbank Cup action. The game will be on Saturday at 18:00 from the FNB Stadium.
ZAMALEK TARGET EDSON CASTILLO?
June is coming up. Kaizer Chiefs need to address expiring contracts, or else lose promising players.
According to Soccer Laduma, Castillo’s deal is ending in June. Egyptian giants Zamalek previously tried to sign the 30-year-old last season but Kaizer Chiefs were not keen on a deal. With Castillo’s deal running out, the outlet believes Amakhosi have shown zero intention of offering a new contract. “There have been several inquiries but the main one which seems serious is from Zamalek,” the publication was told by an unnamed source. “They had inquired before, but at that time, Chiefs were not willing to let him go. At the moment, it seems he could leave for free as the club isn’t keen to extend his contract.”
“It’s actually his choice if Chiefs don’t renew, and if Zamalek are interested in him, it will depend on the talks between the player and Zamalek. Of course, there have been inquiries, and with Thabo Cele at the team now and the injury that Castillo suffered, this is his chance now,” an additional insider said.
WOULD KAIZER CHIEFS MAKE A MISTAKE BY LETTING GO OF EDSON CASTILLO?
