In his own words, Cardoso said while Chiefs are laying good foundation with all the youngsters that came in after they left, they are still far from winning trophies.

Cardoso suggested that Chiefs are making a big mistake by benching experienced players and giving youngsters a chance, adding that they need a mixture of both.

Now, speaking to Thabiso Mosia on Game On, Motaung Jr said he was baffled by Cardoso’s use of words as he spent seven years at Chiefs without winning a single major trophy.

Cardoso arrived at Chiefs in 2015 from Free State Stars, and this on the back of Stuart Baxter guiding the club to a league and Cup [MTN8] double.

KAIZER CHIEFS BOSS MOTAUNG JR HITS BACK AT DANIEL CARDOSO

“With all due respect, you have never heard Dr Motaung coming to radio addressing comments disgruntled former players made but with Cardoso, he spent seven years at the club as a senior player and won nothing. It was a period where we were least successful,” said Motaung Jr.

“It baffles me why he would utter the word ‘titles’. It’s more of a slap in the face for our fans because he played almost all the games when he was here. It was tone-deaf but we wish him all the best at his club,” he added.

Jali’s contract with Sundowns expires in June, and having had disagreements since February, the midfielder decided not to set foot at Chloorkop.

Chiefs were among many PSL clubs reported to be interested in the 33-year-old, but that may never happen if Motaung Jr’s comments are to be believed.

In an interview with Thabiso Mosia on Game On, Motaung Jr admitted that Chiefs were once interested in Jali but that was when he returned from Belgium.

Jali would join Sundowns on a free transfer at the time, and the Amakhosi Sporting Director said they have moved on from wanting to sign him.
