Brandon Peterson was set to follow his former Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt to Kaizer Chiefs after an agreement had been reached, but the transfer fell through at the last-minute due to the ban.
The ban was a result of Amakhosi having illegally signed Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana in 2018 from Madagascan outfit Fosa Juniors FC.
With the ban set to be lifted at the end of June 2021, Peterson has revealed that he is once again in talks with the Glamour Boys, but nothing is set in stone yet.

“No obviously we still busy planning now, my agent will see what’s the next move is,” the 26-year-old said told Kickoff.
“But for now, I have a 10-month-old baby. I’m enjoying my time with him and my daughter and my wife. And still trying to keep fit. At the moment I’m in Cape Town but I’m going back to Joburg soon. I bought a house in Joburg when I was at Wits, I’m staying in Joburg.”
When asked if he was joining Kaizer Chiefs, he replied, “The thing is I’ve been in talks with Chiefs, as you know that coach Gavin was there. And obviously coach Gavin is not there anymore, but obviously it’s something that’s still on the cards, but there’s nothing for sure yet.
“Like I say I still have to plan out the future, and see what’s gonna work out for me. Last season when they found out that I don’t have a club obviously there was a few teams you know. At the beginning it was [Orlando] Pirates, and then obviously Chiefs came, and then AmaZulu came. But because it’s a new season obviously there will be a few teams because I’m a free agent.
“Look, when the opportunity is there (to join Chiefs) is there, why not? Chiefs is one of the biggest teams in Africa. So obviously it will be a big opportunity for me. If you look at the calibre of keepers they have at Chiefs you know, it’s not gonna be a walk in and play. I don’t like freebies, I like to work for my place so, I don’t expect anyone to hand me the number one jersey. I’m always up for a challenge.”
Should Peterson sign on the dotted line for Kaizer Chiefs, he will face stiff competition for a starting role from the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Bruce Bvuma and Daniel Akpeyi.
