Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Junior has opened up on the club’s inability to sign their key transfer targets.

Despite reportedly tabling respectable offers for some of their targets, Chiefs have been falling short.

The Glamour Boys are entering a new era under the guidance of master Tunisian tactician Nasreddine Nabi.

And while the club have been active in the transfer market, Kaizer Chiefs have ultimately struggled to sign big name players for their new coach.

And now, senior boss Kaizer Motaung Jnr has since explained why he thinks his side are failing to lure their targets to Naturena.

Teams are reluctant to strengthen Kaizer Chiefs – Jnr

“To be fair, it is the case. There are certain instances where it is market-related and certain instances where we have dealt really well with some clubs who have been realistic,” Kaizer Motaung Junior said when asked if teams are over-pricing their players when negotiating with Kaizer Chiefs, as quoted by Soccer Laduma.

“At the end of the day it’s a give and take. Everyone has to place a value on what they think the product is worth. Of course some teams wouldn’t want to strengthen Kaizer Chiefs, it’s just like that at times, that’s why we made the step we made by bringing in Tera [Maliwa] into our recruitment department, because recruitment is key.”

In other related news, Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung has opened up on Itumeleng Khune’s future at the club.

The legendary Bafana Bafana goalkeeper has been a rare one-club player for Chiefs. Since being promoted to the Amakhosi first team in 2004, Khune has won 12 trophies, however he now appears to have been removed from the Amakhosi squad for the new season.

While the player himself is adamant he still has a few more years left in him as a player, Kaizer Chiefs are of the opinion it’s time for him to hang up his gloves.

And now, Jessica Motaung has opened up on Chiefs’ plan with the 37-year-old.

Khune set for new role at Kaizer Chiefs?

Khune has been a big part of the Kaizer Chiefs family, someone that we value very seriously,” Jessica Motaung told Radio 2000 as quoted by IDiski Times.

“We are in process and discusses around the role that he can play. In fact one of the things that I was researching in the UK, the ambassadorial role of other players for their clubs after they’ve retired or moved.

“We are in discussions and I’m very excited we have meetings that are set up for us to really look at finalising and going through certain proposals with each.

“But we’re very excited to sit with him around the table and really carve out a really exciting way of taking him to the next level within the Kaizer Chiefs family. Talks are taking place and we’re making sure we’re keeping him within the fold.”
