Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have been charged, found guilty and fined by the PSL Disciplinary Committee (PSL DC).

This is in connection with their fan-misbehaviour on 1 February and 8 February respectively.

On 1 February, a section of Chiefs fans threw objects onto the pitch in protest of a late penalty awarded to Pirates.

Chiefs defender Njabulo Blom was adjudged to have impeded Relebohile Mofokeng inside the box.

Patrick Maswanganyi stepped up and converted from the spot-kick to give Pirates all three points.

A week later, Pirates visited Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld Stadium where they were hammered 4-1.

Similarly, a section of disgruntled Pirates threw missiles onto the pitch, and the PSL DC charged the club.

According to PSL Prosecutor Zola Majavu, both Chiefs and Pirates pleaded guilty on the charges laid against them.

KAIZER CHIEFS AND ORLANDO PIRATES FINED BY PSL

Kaizer Chiefs were fined R100 000 for this latest charge, R50 000 of which was suspended for 12 months provided nothing of this nature repeats itself.

However, they had an existing suspended fine of R100 000 from the previous charge in October 2024, meaning that has been triggered.

Now, Amakhosi have to pay R150 000 for both charges while also sharing the costs of the sitting with their arch-rivals.

Likewise, Pirates were fined R100 000 for the offence committed against Sundowns, R50 000 of which was suspended.

Nonetheless, the new offence triggered the old as Pirates now have to pay R75 000 plus the R50 000 effective immediately.
