AmaZulu chairman comments on ‘transfer battle’ with Kaizer Chiefs!

Both Kaizer Chiefs’ Stuart Baxter and AmaZulu’s Benni McCarthy are reportedly interested in signing a highly rated Zambian midfielder!

Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu are reportedly set to battle it out for the signature of talented Zambian midfielder Larry Bwalya.

AmaZulu chairman Sandile Zungu has since commented on reports suggesting the two DStv Premiership side are in a race to land the Simba SC star.

Despite having a number of figures in the midfield, Kaizer Chiefs’ January shake-up may see the door open for new recruits for Stuart Baxter’s side.

According to reports, The Glamour Boys have identified Larry Bwalya as a potential recruit however further reports suggest that AmaZulu have entered the race.

Sandile Zungu chose to keep his cards close to his chest regarding the club’s ambitions to pounce on the midfielder which Kaizer Chiefs are also interested in.

“Yes, we don’t usually discuss players that we may be interested in or looking at,” AmaZulu chairman Sandile Zungu told Kick-off.

“So I can’t confirm nor deny the speculation, I don’t talk about players I’m targeting or not targeting.” he added regarding the reported Kaizer Chiefs target.

The 26-year-old midfielder Larry Bwalya is a versatile midfielder who was previously been on the books of Zanaco FC and Power Dynamos in his native Zambia.

Both Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu will have to strike a deal with Simba SC should they wish to sign the midfielder. It wouldn’t be the first Simba player that arrived in recent years.

The Glamour Boys welcomed James Kotei from the Tanzania giants in 2019 however that ended in a disaster. Kotei ended up leaving Kaizer Chiefs before making his official debut for the club.

The Glamour Boys are in action this weekend away against Royal AM on Sunday afternoon. The match is scheduled to kick-off at 15:30. AmaZulu on the other hand tackle Marumo Gallants this evening at 17:15.
