ITUMELENG KHUNE MAKES HISTORY WITH KAIZER CHIEFS

In featuring against SuperSport United, Khune played at least a match in his last 17 seasons for the Glamour Boys.

No player has played in more consecutive seasons for Chiefs since the inception of the PSL in 1996 than Khune.

Furthermore, Khune extended his record for most matches played as a Chiefs player in the PSL era – he has featured in 364 competitive games to date.

And of those 364, the 36-year-old shot-stopper started 362 matches and made just two appearances from the bench.

KHUNE WON’T BREAK DOCTOR KHUMALO’S KAIZER CHIEFS RECORD

Despite holding the record for most appearances in the PSL era, Khune, unfortunately, won’t be able to break Doctor Khumalo’s Chiefs record.

Khumalo represented Chiefs 397 times as a player, and Khune won’t reach that mark as this is his final season with the club.

Khune is in his 20th season with Chiefs having first being promoted to the first team as a youngster at the start of the 2004-05 season.
