Kaizer Chiefs are expected to release more than five players by the end of the season as they aim to strengthen their squad.
Before the start of the 2024/25 season, Amakhosi appointed a new coach, Nasreddine Nabi, along with his technical team at Naturena. Under his leadership, the club signed seven players prior to the beginning of the league campaign. Although the team’s results have improved compared to last season, the coach believes additional quality players are necessary to compete with the likes of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
In the January transfer window, Kaizer Chiefs signed three new players—Makabi Lilepo, Thabo Cele, and Tashreeq Morris—bringing their total signings to ten for the season. With that in mind, here are five players likely to leave Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the season:
1. Edson Castillo
The South American player is currently injured, and with his contract expiring in June, it seems unlikely that the club will renew his contract, especially after Cele’s signing.

2. Mduduzi Mdantsane
The midfielder has reportedly been loaned to Richards Bay for six months. Given his lack of game time at the club, the former Cape Town City star might be released at the end of the season.
3. Reeve Frosler
Frosler has not been a favourite of Coach Nabi. This season, the Kaizer Chiefs coach has utilized three different players at right back and has even shifted Njabulo Blom from midfield to right back while Frosler remained on the bench.
4. Yusuf Maart
Maart has not garnered much support this season. Despite being given the captaincy, the 29-year-old has struggled in the Chiefs midfield and has been seen as a weak link.
5. Edmilson Dove
The Mozambican international is also expected to leave at the end of the season. He sustained an injury during pre-season, and if he returns mid-season, he will need to fight for his position as the left back spot has been a weakness for Amakhosi. Dove may have an opportunity to revive his career at Naturena.
Kaizer Chiefs play Orlando Pirates this weekend in the first Soweto Derby of the season.
