Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed that local clubs are unwilling to sell their players to his team.

The 58-year-old coach joined Amakhosi last month from Moroccan side AS FAR. After assessing his squad in Turkey during pre-season, he finally gave fans a taste of what to expect next season when he coached his first match on South African soil as Amakhosi coach. A 4-0 defeat to Young Africans indicated that Chiefs were not ready for the new season.

Why do clubs refuse to sell to Kaizer Chiefs?

Amakhosi are a big brand and most local teams don’t want to sell their best players to strengthen the sleeping giant. For nine years, the Glamour Boys have not tasted silverware but are still the most successful club in the country in terms of trophies won.

Nabi will have to look outside the country as those clubs are willing to sell their players to Kaizer Chiefs or any other PSL side.

“Looking at the market it is very tight and closed, a lot of clubs do not want to release their players to us, they don’t want to sell their players to us,” Nabi told SuperSport TV.

“However, we’re still gonna have to look and find the right player, that we gonna put on the field and give us a plus,” he concluded.

TS Galaxy seems to be the only club in the country that is willing to sell their players to Kaizer Chiefs. Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi mentioned a few times that a strong Chiefs was good for South African football.

Should Chiefs look to buy players outside SA?
