Royal AM continue to be in hot water with the latest developments something to be gravely concerned about!
Royal AM have not been in action in all competitions since 2024 with all of their games being abandoned.
MamKhize in the spotlight
The Premier Soccer League took the decision to abandon Royal AM’s games while their owner is being investigated. SARS are currently in control of Shawn ‘MamKhize’ Mkhize’s assets, one of them being the club. The club is currently under a curator, a process that slowed down the payment of the players most recently.
But it wasn’t just the players that complained about a lack of payment. It is believed lack of payment led to the club being locked out of their training facilities as well. Last week, Royal AM saw their case against their curator thrown out of the court. Now according SABC Sport, the PSL are seriously considering booting the troubled side out of the Betway Premiership!
“SABC Sport has established that the Premier Soccer League [PSL] hierarchy is now exploring possibilities to expel Royal AM. According to the NSL handbook, the league can also impose sanctions that lead to suspension and relegation under extreme circumstances. It’s understood the Executive Committee have been locked in meetings discussing the matter at length and have all but made the call to enforce rule 57.13, which would effectively mean the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season will then have to continue with only 15 instead of 16 clubs. As reported by SABC Sport a week ago, the club failed after their latest attempt in court with an urgent application to force the PSL and SARS to allow them to return to play was dismissed.
PSL to kick Royal AM out of the league?
Royal AM are now rooted to the foot of the table with just 11 games played, one win, five draws and five defeats leaving them with eight points. They were also scheduled to play Milford FC in the Nedbank Cup round of 32, but that fixture was also postponed.” Wrote the publication.
Royal AM’s last game was on the 29th of December and that could may well be their last in the PSL. Is it finally time to cut ties with the Durban side? Feel free to leave your comments in the section below
