Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for yet another striker in the off-season.

Pirates are believed to already be closing in on DRC striker Andy Boyeli, but that doesn’t seem to be enough.

They’re also believed to be in the race for Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan, with archrivals Kaizer Chiefs. The club was already active in the recently concluded January transfer window. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Just last week, it was rumoured that they’re monitoring veteran Swati’s goal machine Sabelo Ndzinisa. But that’s not all. Now according to iDiski Times Pirates have welcomed former Burnley youth academy striker Tremaine Eastmond for assessments.

Pirates invite Eastmond for trials

“Former Burnley striker Tremaine Eastmond is currently being assessed at Orlando Pirates. The 20-year-old arrived for his training stint at Pirates last week after parting ways with Cape Town Spurs, where he was not in the plans of head coach Ernst Middendorp. iDiski Times understands he’s been training with the first team with the hopes of landing a deal as he looks to establish himself in South African football. Eastmond scored four goals, with four assists in 27 games for the Clarets in the U18 Premier League before stints with Prestwich Heys, Abbey Hey and AFC Blackpool.”  Wrote the publication.

It would be interesting to see if Eastmond will impress at Pirates. This especially since he was deemed not good enough by Cape Town Spurs who are relegation threatened. The Buccaneers are believed to be ready to overhaul their striking department at the end of the season. Zakhele Lepasa, Kermit Erasmus and Souaibou Marou are all thought to be heading for the exit door.
