BREAKING: Orlando Pirates part ways with lanky defender!
Orlando Pirates are already preparing for the start of 2025, and they don’t want to wait until the opening of the transfer window.
Orlando Pirates have announced the decision to amicably part ways with defender Sandile Mthethwa.
In a statement released on Friday, Pirates said while the technical team wanted Mthethwa to stay, they couldn’t guarantee him game time.
At 27, Mthethwa is at the peak of his career, and should be enjoying regular game time in the PSL.
However, this hasn’t been the case as Jose Riveiro has used him sparingly over the past two-and-a-half seasons.
The lanky defender first arrived at Pirates in 2016, and he worked his way up to the first team.
Mthethwa will be remembered for his winning goal against Kaizer Chiefs in the 2023 Nedbank Cup semi-finals.
