BREAKING: Orlando Pirates’ Monnapule Saleng returns to action!
Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng has endured a tough last couple of months, but is now set to finally play his first game of 2025!

Monnapule Saleng is finally back in training but not for Orlando Pirates just yet as he dones national team colours.
Saleng last played for Pirates in 2024 and his saga at the Buccaneers shows no signs of being solved soon.
Saleng sidelined by Pirates
There have been many rumours about Saleng’s situation with Pirates, with the club and his management both releasing statements. Initial rumours were that the winger was denied a lucrative opportunity abroad a couple of years back. It was also recently claimed that Egyptian giants Al Ahly had agreed a deal to sign him from the Buccaneers. That deal hitting a snag saw him disgruntled and missing training.
His management P Management came out to deny the validity of any such rumours. Saleng does, however, remain sidelined at Pirates. In the midst of that, however, he has found himself called up by Bafana Bafana to compete in CHAN qualifiers. The South African’s will be led by the well-travelled Molefi Ntseki in a two-legged affair against Egypt.
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Saleng is finally back in action as he trained with his Bafana teammates in Bloemfontein.
Back active for Bafana Bafana
“Orlando Pirates attacker Monnapule Saleng has started training with Bafana Bafana’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) squad for the upcoming first round qualifier against Egypt. Saleng has not played football in over two months due to alleged ongoing disputes behind the scenes with Pirates, but has been given a chance to play competitive football in the two-legged qualifier against the Egyptians following his selection in the team. Saleng started training with the team in Bloemfontein today and a big call will have to be made on whether he is in the right condition to get some much needed minutes on the pitch.” Wrote the publication.
