Zungu arrived in France earlier this week ahead of his return to Ligue 2 side Amiens and will now be required to complete seven days of isolation before being allowed to rejoin the first-team squad, according to French publication Courrier Picard.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan with Glasgow Rangers but was left in limbo after Steven Gerrard’s Scottish champions opted against offering him on a permanent deal.
He subsequently returned to South Africa to decide his future plans and his arrival in Mzansi sparked wild rumours he would be signing for one of the bigger PSL clubs – with Kaizer Chiefs immediately linked to his services.
Alas, that was not to be.

Bongani Zungu’s return to Europe was delayed due to Covid-19 travel restrictions which prevented him from rejoining Amiens in time for the start of the current season.
According to reports out of France, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star – who played 68 matches for the Brazilians – also rejected a move to an unnamed Portuguese team in favour of returning to his parent club.

Zungu has made 59 appearances for Amiens since joining the club from Vitória Guimarães in 2017.
He also has 29 Bafana Bafana caps to his name.
Zungu’s future remains uncertain beyond the 2021/22 season.
