Orlando Pirates return to DStv Premiership action this afternoon when they travel to the Peter Mokaba Stadium to face Polokwane City.

Jose Riveiro’s side will be looking to pick up their first league victory in three games. The Buccaneers have slipped 16 points behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns who have a game in hand.

Polokwane City on the other hand will be looking to continue their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership. Rise and Shine will move above Orlando Pirates on the log standings should they pick up a victory today.

While Mamelodi Sundowns’ match will be televised live on SABC this afternoon, the same can’t be said for the Buccaneers!

Action at the Peter Mokaba Stadium gets underway at 15:30.

Today’s match will be televised live on SuperSport PSL. Unfortunately for many City and Orlando Pirates fans, today’s match won’t be televised live on SABC.

In other news, former Orlando Pirates star Linda Mntambo looks set to be rewarded with a contract extension at Sekhukhune United.

The midfielder has made just two appearances for United this season. This was due to persistent injury problems.

Despite his injury struggles, Mntambo is viewed as a key member for the club both on and off the field of play!

According to the latest reports, Sekhukhune United view Mntambo as an “ambassador”! He will now be rewarded with a contract extension.

Former Bucs star to be rewarded by United?

“The club is happy with him and the way he has recovered,” an insider told SoccerLaduma regarding the former Orlando Pirates star.

“You know he is the club captain, and they want to keep him as much as they. That’s why it’s the two years for now, as they are also considering his age. He is 34 and in 2027 he will be 36. So it’s not a bad deal at all.

“He markets the team very well. He’s also a player they need even outside the playing field to market and promote the team.

“He has recovered from injury. Now he can play, but even when he was not playing, he was like the face of the club. That’s also why they want to keep him for another two more years,” a source concluded regarding the former Orlando Pirates star.
