Al Ahly choose Orlando Pirates star as Percy Tau replacement?

Al Ahly are believed to be ready to test the resolve of Orlando Pirates for a Percy Tau replacement. 

Tau is believed to be on the verge of leaving Al Ahly with a contract termination suiting both parties.

Al Ahly and Tau set to part ways?

Tau has seen his game time reduced considerably at Al Ahly this season. This stemming from contract issues. The Bafana Bafana international was promised a bumper contract by the club of the century not too long ago. This after a superb season for the club, but out of nowhere, the contract changed to a reduced one. The was also a feud with the coach Marcel Koller who was previously a big ally of the player. Now it is believed that the club want to get rid of him so they can free up a foreign spot. 

Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Al Ahly are looking at Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng as a possible Tau replacement. 

Targeting Mofokeng from Pirates as replacement?

“A source within Al Ahly club has revealed that the Egyptian powerhouse is closely monitoring red-hot Orlando Pirates attacker Relebohile Mofokeng with a view of having him lead the club for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. As reported by Egyptian media, the club is interested in securing Mofokeng’s services during the January transfer window. According to exclusive statements made to Al-Jumhuriya, Swiss coach Marcel Koller is particularly impressed with the 20-year-old’s abilities and has included the young striker on his list of potential reinforcements for the team in the current window.” Wrote the publication.

This is not the first time Mofokeng has been linked with Al Ahly. Last season they were the only African side that was thought to be interested in signing him from Pirates. This in the face of European giants, Glasgow Rangers and Red Bull Salzburg.
