Percy Tau: Next destination has officially been confirmed
Percy Tau’s immediate future has been confirmed after Belgian top flight side RSC Anderlecht announced the arrival of the South African star
South African star Percy Tau has officially completed a move to Belgian Jupiler Pro League outfit RSC Anderlecht on a loan deal until the end of the 2020/21 season.
Tau will spend his third season on loan out in Belgium from English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion. He turned out in the second tier for Royal Union St Gilloise in 2018/2019‚ winning the Belgian First Division B’s player of the season award before joining Belgian giants Club Brugge for the 2019/20.
The 26-year-old featured in 30 matches for Brugge, managing four goals and eight assists in all competitions, including some huge performances against Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in the Uefa Champions League and Europa League.
Percy Tau joins RSC Anderlecht
Anderlecht, who finished in eight position last season in the Belgium top flight, have officially confirmed the arrival of the diminutive South African attacker via a video posted on the club’s official Twitter account.
“Percy is a player who already knows our capital and the league,” sporting director Peter Verbeke told the club’s official website.
“He is a creative, technically strong, fast and agile player, he can play in various attacking positions. In addition, he has already demonstrated that he can be efficient and decisive. Due to a lack of preparation, we just have to give him some time to be important for us, but we are of course happy with his added value to our squad.”
Belgium love affair continues for one more season
According to reports from Belgium, Tau joins Anderlecht on loan until the end of the 2020/2021 campaign.
“As announced‚ Percy Tau will play for Anderlecht next season. That loans him for one season without a purchase option from the English Brighton & Hove Albion‚” Belgian publication Gazet van Antwerpen said.
Tau’s new journey may begin as early as this weekend when Anderlecht get their 2020/2021 league campaign underway against Mechelen on Sunday evening however it remains to be seen whether all of his paper work will be completed in time.
