Will Stormers turn tables on Munster?

The Stormers have enjoyed mixed fortunes in their three opening games of the URC season, but a first-ever win against Munster could spark their campaign.

The Stormers are looking to overturn their 100% losing streak against Munster to get their URC campaign back on track in Cape Town on Saturday.

The Stormers are back in Cape Town after kick-starting their URC campaign with a three-game tour in Europe, which resulted in two defeats and one victory.

As it stands, they sit at the bottom of the URC table and have it all to do to get back on track and into the top half of the table. That quest starts off with a home game against Munster, their hoodoo team who have beaten the Stormers in all four their previous encounters since the inception of the competition in 2021.

TIME TO AVENGE HISTORY OR FOCUS ON FUTURE?

Speaking ahead of the showdown between the two former URC champion teams, assistant coach Dawie Snyman emphasized that while the Stormers have learned from their past encounters against the Irish club, their focus is not on getting back ay Munster, but on improving their own game.

“We aren’t living in the past. We’ve had our opportunities when we’ve played them before, to win those games,” Snyman said.

“They will be coming here with confidence. They have performed really well here in Cape Town. It’s a good challenge for us.

“Munster are a very efficient side. They have world-class players in a lot of positions. It is a tough team to break down. We have come close, but we’ve learned something from every game we’ve played against them.”

“At this stage of the season, a lot of the focus is on ourselves, making sure that we get our stuff right. Munster and Glasgow will have plans against us. We have played both of them a few times, so we know what to expect.”
