Ireland loose forward Josh van der Flier was named World Rugby’s Player of the Year at the World Rugby Awards in Monaco on Sunday.

Van der Flier became just the third Irish winner after Keith Wood (2001) and Johnny Sexton (2018).

He beat last year’s winner Antoine Dupont of France, Sexton and Springbok centre Lukhanyo Am to scoop the top accolade.
