All of these men have represented the Springboks before. However, they’re unlikely to do so again.

Donning the green and gold Springboks jersey is one of the most prestigious honours in rugby and a dream that many young boys strive towards in South Africa.

Furthermore, it is as has to earn a spot as it is to keep it with SA Rugby depth at an all time high. So, these three former Boks have likely seen the last of their Springbok playing days.

RWC WINNER UNLIKELY TO PLAY FOR SA AGAIN

2019 Rugby World Cup winner Elton Jantjies is unlikely to play for the Springboks again.

This is because the former Bok and Lions flyhalf copped a four-year suspension after testing positive for the banned substance – Clenbuterol. Meanwhile, his ban is set to run until 2028.

The 34-year-old will be 37, turning 38, the year the ban ends.

ANOTHER DOPING BAN, ANOTHER CAREER RUINED

Meaning, he will be well past his prime and too old for the Springboks setup. Meanwhile, given the nature of his ban it is difficult to see any way back for Jantjies.

Furthermore, Aphiwe Dyantyi finds himself in a similar situation. He was at the pinnacle of his career before he copped a shock ban four-year ban, according to SkySports. This, after he too tested positive for banned substances. Namely, anabolic steroids.

Dyantyi was fresh off being named SA Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Season following his six tries in 13 tests in 2018. However, he missed out on both recent Rugby World Cup triumphs due to his ban. Now, he is playing rugby again but he has struggled to find his rhythm and feet since returning. He showed glimpses of promise at the Sharks before recently signing for the Bulls. Unfortunately, he sits very far down an impressive Bok pecking order with Cheslin Kolbe, Kurt-Lee Arendse, Makazole Mapimpi and Edwin Van Der Merwe all comfortably ahead.

DO YOU THINK EITHER OF THESE FORMER SPRINGBOKS WILL EVER PLAY FOR SA AGAIN?
